The Power of Singing
Everyone should sing even if you think you can’t. Singing lifts the heart like nothing else can. Singing will lift your heart, regardless of the level of your emotions. If sad, a song can make you glad. If you have joy, a song can make you rejoice! Singing not only lifts your spirit, it will lift others as well. Singing is like yawning, it is contagious.
Yesterday, I was visiting the hospital with an elderly, dear friend who had fallen and is facing life in a nursing home. She knew I was a singer and asked me to sing to her, her favorite song, “Jesus Is All The World To Me“. As I sang, she joined in and began to sing along. She smiled as we sang, “When I am sad, He makes me glad. He’s my friend.” She said, “Bro. Lonnie, Jesus is my best friend!” Then she expressed, “I just sang a duet with Lonnie Moore! Can you believe it!” I said, “Ethel, let’s get a bus and hit the road!” We laughed. We knew the Lord was going to work all things together for good, for this dear sister who loved God (Romans 8:28).
So, sing! The Lord will lift your spirit and the spirit of someone else. If you feel, inadequate, let me help. Consider my new course “Singing Made Simple” and allow God to use the power of singing in your life!
